John B. Savage

John has been working and partnering with Nonprofit executives and organizations throughout North America and beyond for over 35 years.   He and his team help International, National and Regional organizations grow their revenue, improve their effectiveness, and fill the gap during leadership transitions.

His clients have included start-ups to organizations celebrating their 150th anniversary. This includes private schools, foster care agencies, museums, membership organizations like yacht clubs, rescue missions, large and small church boards, family and church foundations, camps, overseas agencies, orphanages, hospitals, inner-city and urban agencies serving the poor, colleges as well as faith-filled family businesses – and their leaders – and others.

Over the years, John has served on the teaching faculty of City Vision College, Azusa Pacific University, Christian Leadership Alliance, Citygate Network, CareNet, ABHE, Artios Institute; and TSG’s Virtual Leadership Institute.  He has also served as an Independent Study Advisor in Leadership for Bakke Graduate University, and as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Des Moines, Washington as well as Founder & Board Chair of Des Moines Creek Classical Christian Academy and La Casa de Los Niños, an orphanage he built in Maneadero, Mexico.  In the Spring and Fall, John also serves as a National Evaluator with the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) to aid in the accreditation of bible colleges in North America.

He has been a national columnist or contributor for InSite Magazine, Church Executive Magazine, Planned Giving Today as well as the Publisher of Boardwise, a bi-monthly newsletter on Stewardship and Leadership for board members of Christian ministries in North America.  John is also a Founding Member of the Alliance for Board Effectiveness, a professional peer group of national experts who consult with nonprofit and ministry boards. 

John was a Co-Founder for Maui Rescue Mission, Americans for Ukraine and The New Ukraine.  He Chairs the board of East Harlem Fellowship and the Lahaina Maritime Foundation and is a Trustee with National Center for Fathering and the Lahaina Yacht Club. 

While he can be found teaching fundraising, leadership, and board development at various national conferences and events throughout North America, John is most often retained to help clients grow their revenue, build their board, and transition through changes in leadership.

He holds a B.S. in Physics from Denison University with a minor in Latin American Studies.  He earned an Executive MBA from Pepperdine University from where he also became Certified in Dispute Resolution.  Early in his investment banking career with Pacific Capital Ltd, he was securities and insurance licensed.  He has lived in Ohio, Cartagena, Madrid, Irvine, and Seattle.  He currently resides in Lahaina, Hawaii with offices in Newport Beach, California
